Fall to Layout #34 Take Two

Here's this week's sketch. The old version of #34 was a little lackluster, so I updated the sketch to better match what I meant to convey with this design.

Some dimensions
Patterned Paper- 3.75x4.75
Rectangle Frame layer: 2.5x3.5
Square: 2x2

For my sketch, I decided to start with some patterned paper and see where that took me. I have no idea what company makes this paper, but it's from an old Simon Says Stamp monthly kit.  I paired that with a Vintage Cream card base and some Baja Breeze card stock. I stamped a flower from Concord and Ninth's Wildflower set and coloured that with Copic markers. The sentiment comes from Papertrey Ink's Butterfly Hope.

To finish it off, I added a little bit of Pool Party ribbon and I added a row of pierced holes and rounded the corners of the card base.

Here's Chera's card:

Hello crafty friends! Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!! Here's my take on this week's sketch card! I kept this card super clean and simple with the white on white! I double stamped the Mondo Mangolia (essentials by ellen) with versamark ink on watercolour paper, then heat embossed it in liquid platinum embossing poweder. Once that was done I got out abandoned coral oxide ink for the watercolouring of the flower. Its nothing fancy just did a super quick job of it! I then used the coordinating die to cut the flower out. Stamped the Hello in versamark as well using the liquid platinum to heat emboss then stamped sending you hugs on some vellum to make the ribbon embellishment aspect! Hope you enjoy today's card! I look forward to seeing what you create!

Fall to Layout #33 Take Two

Happy Sunday!

I hope your September is going well so far! It's been a mix of hot days and cool nights here, so I've been kind of feeling "fall", but still not ready to say good bye to summer just yet.

Here's this week's sketch:

I decided to pull out Gran's Garden (PTI) and just used that for the trio floral element. I stamped the flowers only at first, but it felt empty so I made a few masks and added the leaves. I added a birthday greeting from the Ways to Say It: Birthday. I made my own stamped pattern paper for the bottom portion. Finally I added a ribbon (old Stampin' Up! one)

Here are Chera's cards. She made two this week:

Happy Sunday everyone!!! Today I had a couple of card ideas rolling around in my brain so I thought I’d make them both for you!!  Figured with fall just around the corner I'd pull out some Wplus9 leaves and some pretty fall ink colours (papertrey ink)! And the second card was the first idea that came to my mind!! It's an oldie Papertrey ink stamp set (cutting garden) that has been in my pile to use again!! Went with some classic colours, I had a wedding card in mind but the sentiment (from simon says stamp) works well for other cards as well!! Hope you all have a great day! I look forward to seeing what you create!

Fall to Layout #32 Take Two

Happy Sunday (a long weekend Sunday to boot!) Here's this week's sketch. Although the sketch is square, feel free to stretch it out like I did. Instead of a circle on a square card, I did an oval on a rectangle card. Same basic layout applies.

Here's my card. I made this for \Ashley's leather challenge for Stamp-A-Faire last weekend. I didn't post it in the challenge links, as I was a presenter this year and didn't think I should play for prizes. But that didn't stop me from playing along!!

The basic leather technique was to use water and glycerin to give the paper more flexibility. I didn't know where my glycerin was (although I found it today, ha!), so I used a tiny bit of Versamark reinker. I think it achieved a similar effect. Be sure to check out her video for the details on this technique.

I used a piece of Dark Chocolate card stock and completed the leather technique. Once that was dry, I sponged some Dark Chocolate Ink on it. I die-cut it with the stitched oval die from the Shakers & Sprinkles kit. Next I die cut two of the Meadow Greens leaves and stamped the corresponding leaves using Ripe Avocado and Prairie Grass. I made a little banner and stamped a sentiment from the Ways to Say: Thank You mini set. The final touch was stamping leaves in Classic Kraft on the Kraft card base. I also added rounded corners, just because!

Here's Chera's card:

Happy Long weekend Sunday everyone!! Here's my take on today's Sketch cards! Sad to not be crafting with my gals this weekend like I was last!!! Today's card is featuring a lot of Wplus9 goodies including ink colours and the circle die is from Simon Says stamp! I first cut a circle from the front of my card base then used that same smaller circle with a later circle to give the five that kraft border around. My next step was stamping the flowers and leaves out. I wasn’t originally to sure which ones I wanted to use so there were many extra stamped flowers….maybe another project on the horizon!!! I stamped the sentiment inside of the card added the flowers and done! Oh for some added shine I added some water droplets to the flower centres!! Hope you enjoy today's card!!!

Fall to Layout #31- Take Two

Happy Sunday!

I have a special guest today! Chera happened to be in town this weekend for a family wedding so me and our other stamping buddy Fran all got together for some crafty fun! We even convinced Fran to play along in the sketch challenge! So I've got three cards to share! Between the three of us, we're featuring several different companies- Concord and 9th, Altenew, Stampin' Up, Papertrey Ink, Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn!

Here's the sketch!  I made the sketch originally in 2009, when ribbon was a much more popular item. We had an interesting conversation about this one as we reminisced about all the pretty ribbon we HAD to have and STILL have, but it's not as trendy. But you know what I say, ribbon is still pretty, make it work!

First up, we have Chera's card. She started with a white panel of card stock and used some Early Espresso ink and the coffee bean images to make her own stamped paper. Next she chose one of the sentiments and this fun mug, also from the Coffee Love stamp set, and stamped those on Kraft. Those panels had some jute twine added and then she adhered those to a white card base. How fun, right??

Next up, Fran's card. Fran doesn't share much of her card making online, but she is super talented and has a great eye for details! She changed up the sketch a tiny bit, but was still inspired by the general layout. She started with some donuts stamped on the pink cardstock. For the sprinkles, she embossed them with white embossing powder. Next, she made these two cute embellishments. The donut comes from the Donut Worry set by Lawn Fawn and the adorable coffee mug is from Simon Says Stamp's Coffee Love. She loved how the coffee cup had the little arms and used the same arms from that die to add to the donut.  To add some additional dimension, Nuvo drops in black were used for the little eyes. Since the jute twine was still on the table, she added that as her ribbon element too. She was going to apply it horizontally- like in the sketch, but we all decided that it worked better visually vertically. Super cute right?

And just a close-up of the adorable coffee and donut pair!

Now, it's time for my card. Since we were at Fran's house, I wanted to make use of some stamps that I don't own. This is one of those sets- Orange You Sweet by Concord and 9th. I started with the large outline Sweet image. I stamped that in Memento black and coloured it with Copics using a slight ombre look. I finished off the sentiment with another line from that set. I was in a pink grapefruit mood apparently, so I stamped my side panel with the rind and sliced profile images as well- using Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush on Sweet Blush card stock. It was feeling too plain, so I die cut a few slices from the Orange You Sweet dies. I also added a touch of Wink of Stella to give them that fun shimmer. The final touch was some sheer Basic Grey ribbon. I added the main panel to some Basic Grey card stock and then onto my Berry Sorbet card front.

And here's a close up of those shimmery slices!

And here are all our projects together! Just to prove we were actually together haha!

If you play along, please leave a link to your project!

Fall to Layout #30 Take Two

Happy Sunday!

Here's this week's sketch. I love how this one really allows for so many different backgrounds.

A2 Card base: 4.25x5.5
Patterned layer: 4x4.25
Solid layer: 1.5x4.25

I decided to make two cards. I just got some Concord & 9th products and wanted to use those some of the new to me products.

First up the Wildflower set and a sentiment from the Sunshine Turnabout set. I stamped the flowers all over some watercolour paper. Then I painted a different colour over each image. To finish it off, I added some splatters. I paired that with a Bermuda Bay panel. The sentiment was stamped on the scalloped circle of the Sunshine dies.

The next card features some of the other images included in the Sprinkles Turnabout set. One thing I love about this is that the Sunshine circle die works perfectly with the sentiments included in this Turnabout set as well!

Here's Chera's Card:

I know this isn’t the simplest of CAS cards, but I just love making a background out of text words to match the card! For today's sketch I used Wplus9 Sending Sunshine. I used the longest sentiment to stamp on my card base “you make me happy when skies are gray”. Once I had the background all stamped I die cut out the element pieces: sun clouds and the word sunshine from the matching die set (sunshine layers). I placed everything into position, added some glossy accents to the word sunshine, the outer layer of the clouds and the inside of the sun for some added detail!! Sure hope you liked today's card and I look forward to seeing your creations!

Fall to Layout #29- Take Two

It's time for another sketch!

Card Front: 4.25 x 5.5
Patterned Panel: 3.75 x 5
Patterned Panel Frame: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8

Here's my card. I wanted to make my own patterned paper for the main panel. I got out some Harvest Gold card stock and started stamping stars all over in Orange Zest, Bright Buttercup, Harvest Gold, and Summer Sunshine. Next I die cut the "wish" from some Melon Mambo, and added some glossy accents to that. I adhered that to the patterned piece and then added the popped up "make a" portion of the sentiment. For some added interest, I added a few die cut stars, cut from black card stock. I used sheer black polka dot ribbon for my small horizontal element. One thing I really like doing with this sort of layout is adding a black mat. When using black elsewhere on a card, this black mat really ties it all together.

Stamps: Count the Stars
Ink: Orange Zest, Bright Buttercup, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunshine, Black
Paper: White, Black, Harvest Gold, Melon Mambo
Dies: Stars & Wishes, Superstar Borders, Small sketched stars
Accessories,etc.: Glossy Accents, Sheer ribbon

Here's Chera's card (this is one of my favorites from her!):

Happy Sunday!! Here's my take on this weeks sketch! Had fun with this one…pulled out another old set from Wplus9 Quilt print. I started off by stamping the card panel with versa mark in and then clear embossing powder over it. Once the while card front was covered I pulled out my distress inks to give this ombre look (seedless preserves, victorian velvet and spun sugar) Added the happy birthday and some sequins for sparkle!!

Fall to Layout #28- Take Two

My dimensions:
Card Front: 4.25 x 5.5
Side Panel: 2.5 x  4.25h
Side Panel Frame: 2-5/8 x 4-3/8

I started with a branch from Spring Woods. I die cut that and used the MISTI for accurate placement. One tip for this set-if you are going to use the dies,  be sure to die cut first and then stamp. After that I  die cut the bird and stamped that. I suppose there aren't that many pink birds out there but I thought it went nicely with the colour scheme.  The greeting comes from the Winter Woods set.
Here's Chera's card:

Happy Sunday everyone!! Here's my take on this week's sketch for you! I’ve been going through my stash of stamps lately and pulling out sets that have been neglected for a while! Todays set is Wplus9 pretty peonies! The Thank you is from Altenews Many Thanks set!  I stamped the leaves image onto a piece of white cardstock I die cut from MFT tag die set. Once that I then die cut the flowers and stamped the images on them and popped up a few just for added dimension! Hope you feel inspired! I look forward to see what you've created!

Fall to Layout #26- Take Two

Hello! I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far!
Here's this week's sketch:

First of all- the dimensions I used:
Card front: 4.25 x 5.5
Panel: 2 x 5.5
Each square: 1.75 x 1.75

I decided to pull out some Altenew for this sketch. Just as a reminder, or if you're new here,  any graphic image on the sketch (like the butterflies on the one above) are representative of any image. In this case the 3 objects are meant to be the same type of image though.

I  stamped each flower and leaf three times on some watercolour paper. I embossed these with Platinum powder and cut them out and then painted them using distress inks (Barn Door, Aged Mahogany, Crushed Olive, and Forest Moss).

Stamps: Adore You (Altenew)
Ink: Versamark, Black, Barn Door, Aged Mahogany, Crushed Olive, and Forest Moss
Paper: Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado, White (PTI),  Watercolour paper
Accessories, etc. Platinum embossing powder

Here's Chera's card:

For todays sketch wanted to use a different shape to show how you can change it up by keeping it the same!! I used the Simon Says Stamp stitched circle dies and Papertrey Ink Bitty bouquets stamp set to create the look!!

Fall to Layout #25- Take Two!

Hello all!

I hope you're ready for another sketch. We're taking things square this week!

The dimensions I used:
Card Base: 4.5x4.5
Background Vertical Panel: 2-1/8x4.5
Word Panel: 2-7/8x 3.5
Orange Panel: 3-5/8x3-5/8

Here's my card! I was feeling a little tropical still with all the lovely weather as of late.I think it's pretty straight forward. Stamp leaves onto the background strip. Stamp a flower and leave and die cut those. Add a greeting to the white panel and adhere everything.

Stamps: Color Layering Hibiscus, Thanks Stamp & Cut (Hero Arts)
Ink: Limeade Ice, Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sunshine, Orange Zest, Terracotta Tile (PTI), Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories: Hibiscus dies (Hero Arts)

And now, onto Chera's card!

Today's card was super fun to make! Don’t often make square cards so it was fun to be pushed inside that box ;)!!  I wanted to keep the colour pallet nice and simple and of course bright!! So some lovely shades of teal were an automatic go to!

Stamps used in today's card:
Hero Arts blizzard bold prints background stamp
Papertrey ink butterfly hope stamp set
Hero Arts hello stamp and cut

Dies: MFT Stitched Squares

Fall to Layout #24- Take Two

Hello all and welcome back!
Let's get back into it, shall we?

Here is this week's sketch. When I think of sketches to "fall to", this one is high ranking!

If you would like dimensions, I used the following:

Card Base: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
Frame Layer: 3-1/8 x 4-3/8
Main Layer: 3 x 4-1/4
Pattern Piece: 3 x 1-3/4

Here's my card!

I was definitely in the mood for clean and simple and cutesy! This Lawn Fawn pineapple certainly fit the bill! I first stamped my pineapple and then coloured it with the Copics. Next, I stamped more pineapples on the Green Parakeet panel and clear embossed those. I attached that piece to the Lemon Tart panel, added the ribbon for some subtle texture and stamped the aloha greeting. That panel was adhered to a New Leaf Panel and then finally adhered to the black panel. I hope you enjoy it!

Stamps: Aloha (Lawn Fawn)
Ink: Tuxedo Black, Versamark (Tsukineko)
Paper: White, Black, Lemon Tart, Green Parakeet, New Leaf (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories, etc.: Lemon Tart twill ribbon (PTI), Clear embossing powder, Copics (YR18, Y32, Y35, YG13, G03)

Up next, Chera's take on the sketch. She stuck with general design of the main panel piece of the sketch and expanded that to the whole card.

Here it is!

And here's what she had to say about it:

Today's card is brought to you by the Concord and 9th flower turnabout stamp set! I saw the sketch and this is what I had pictured in my mind!! This stamp is great for those of us who love to make their own designer looking paper! I pulled out my Wplus9 inks (wild mango, blossomberry, sweet gelato, sweet nectar, cockleshell, mojito) because they are my fave! Once the flower stamping was complete I used a double stitched curve die from MFT to make my edge! Just that slight detail makes the card! The hello die is from Simon Says Stamp, I layered it up 3 times and then added some glossy accents on it to give it a little shine!! To give it that Chera finish,  I added some clear sequins….couldn’t resist!!!

Hope you are inspired to create something today!!

(other products use Wplus9 hand lettered hello stamp set, neenah solar white 80 and 110lbs  cardstock, elegant eggplant cardstock from Stampin Up!)
